A Few Tips for Improving Your Mood
- Think Positively – Being positive is choice. Unfortunately, there is always something to be negative about. Life isn’t a vacation all the time. But, likewise, there are always things to be happy about and thankful for. Choose to focus on what is good rather than what is bad. In turn, you’re more likely to find a solution for those bad things.
- Take Deep Breaths – Close your eyes and do a few minutes of slow breathing and/or meditation. This will slow down your brain and help you to eliminate the chaos. Additionally, you’ll become more alert because deep breathing will oxygenate the blood.
- Listen to Upbeat Music – Research has shown that music can have a strong mood altering effect because of how it connects with memories. It’s also great for getting pumped up for exercise, which brings me to my next and final point.
- Exercise – Exercise is great because it induces the breathing technique and very rapidly gets oxygen to the entire body. If you exercise for a long enough period of time your brain will actually release endorphins which further boosts your mood!
There you have it. Next time you’re in a funky mood, try those out and see how they fair!
