In a world that is rapidly becoming more and more digital, 90% of ID card verifications are still done visually with a set of human eyes instead of being done by a machine or ID card reader. Because of this reality, it’s important for security that your ID cards are visually distinct to help with fraud-resistance.
Forgoing the simple visual security features can make cards quite easy to duplicate and falsify. There are a couple easy implementations that you can add to significantly decrease the risk of identity fraud. Here are a couple of the top choices that our customers have choosen to enhance their identification security protocol. They are easy, low-cost and highly effective.
Holograms
There are a couple of options within this feature.
- Holographic Card Stock – These are cards that have an embedded hologram directly on the card.
- Holographic Overlay – This is a thin layer of film that contains a holographic image(s) which can be added after the cards have been printed.
Both of these options are not easily duplicated because holographic overlay cannot be printed with a standard printer and embedded holograms are restricted in their distribution.
Ghost Images
This is another good feature that is hard to duplicate. You simply add a smaller duplicate black and white photo of the individual to the card and lower the opacity (making the photo faded or see through).
There is obviously a wider variety of visual security features, however these are the most common. If you have any questions about addition security features, feel free to give us a call! One of our representatives would be happy to take your call and talk through all of the options! Call (866) 610-4308
