However, key fobs and prox tags are another alternative that can be quite effective for contactless function. Let’s take a quick look at the convenience and function of both accessories.
Key Fobs
Key fobs are a great solution for those who want to keep access control and identification verification separate. Many choose to lump both function together with a proximity card, but some organization do not need or wish to have this dual function for their ID cards.
The key fob is kept securely on a key ring so that your ID card can remain in place without having to take it off or remove it from its card holder. With the key ring function you can have quick and easy access whenever needed. They can function just as well as a proximity cards with the added feature of being held neatly on your key ring.
Adhesive Prox Tags
Another great option to a proximity ID card is a prox tag. Prox tags have an adhesive back which allows you to adhere them to any flat surface that you wish. So, instead of adding it to your key ring like the key fob, you can add it to the front or back of your existing ID card to give it the functionality of a proximity card. Some have also chosen to adhere it to the back of their cell phone or on their badge holder.
