In most cases, Fullidentity prints customer cards individually. That means that we print the entire design and badge content onto a blank white card. However, for customers who need large quantities (1,000-2,000), it can sometimes be better to use pre-printed card stock. If you are in need of a large quantity of ID cards, this is certainly something worth considering because of it’s potential to save you money.
When is it Cost Effective to Use Pre-Printed ID Cards?
If you’re only needing to print a few fields of variable information such as name, employee number, barcode, etc, then pre-printing might be a great option for you in terms of cost efficiency. This is often very functional for medical or insurance ID cards. We would simply order a large batch of your specific pre-printed cards and keep them in stock. When you’re ready to order more, we use your pre-printed ID cards to print the variable information instead of using blank white cards.
The reason why this can sometimes be more cost effective is because the cards would be printed using a different printing technology in factory than can be less expensive when printing color designs. Additionally, we would print your variable text in black ink. The combination of those two factors make printing your ID cards cheaper than doing them individually in most cases.
On the other hand, in order to save money using this method, you really would need to fit the profile that is described above. If you were needing to print color text or wanting to print individual color photos on each card, this method would not be a good fit for your needs.
